Let us give you a stupid, but simple example. Let's assume you wanted to get into the top 10 on Google for "dog training." Well, a ton of sites are trying to do the same thing. If you went white hat, it would probably take between two and three years to achieve the task. White hat firms will commiserate with you on how long it takes, but don't buy their crocodile tears. They love it. Why? They get to bill you each month and don't have to produce results until three years later! They probably won't even do that, but will explain the lack of rankings away by saying Google changed something.What a load of crap.
Now let's look at it from a black hat perspective. We are going to say we can get you into the top 10 using black hat methods in 6 months. After that, you'll need maintenance to keep it there, but it shouldn't be a big deal.
Now, what is this going to cost? Let's assume the white hat guys quote you $2,500 a month. We quote you $5,000 a month and then $1,500 when it is up there to keep it there.
Over three years, you are going to pay $90,000 to the white hat guys. Assuming we get you into the top 10 in the sixth month, you are going to pay us $30,000 for that six months and $45,000 for the remaining months of the three year period. That is a total of $70,000, which is $20,000 less than you would have paid for white hat work AND you get the rankings in six months instead of three years.
